Formerly known as Kinderhook Landing, Stuyvesant became a separate township in 1823 and is bordered by the Hudson River to its west and the Town of Kinderhook at the east.

An agricultural community, several farms have been handed down through successive generations of the same family, which has left its rural character much the same as it's been for over the last 100 years.
