St. Alban's Place Garden Block

Parks / Recreation

St. Alban's Place was started in 1872 by Charles Leslie, who also designed the garden blocks at Madison Square in Phila. St. Alban's Place is registered in its entirety in the Philadelphia Historic Commission designation of historic places.

The garden is private, but open to the public year round.

The movie "The Sixth Sense" was filmed in and around the garden.

Leslie designed the garden to provide urban dwellers with access to "civilizing" greenspace. The design was featured in national magazines of the time, including Harper's.
