The folks behind Cinefamily understand key terms such as "independent," "cult classic," and "B movie"--and if you're a midnight movie film geek like me you will appreciate this place, because there is nowhere that matches it. Many excellent series of films: for instance, going on right now, "Postpunk Junk" and in the past, "Lesbian Vampires" and "Disturbing and Inappropriate Children's Cartoons" (from as far back as the 1930s!). This is great stuff and the selections are well-researched--these folks have done their homework in the archives. I never get there early enough to snag one of the couches in the first few rows, but in any case, there are nice, comfy pillows on every seat. So, you'd think this would be one of those crusty places, right? Wrong. The place is actually quite clean. At the first "Postpunk Junk" screening the other week (_The Punk Rock Movie_ and _Blank Generation_ were screening that night), they handed out free beer (in cans, of course!) to everyone who was of age (I'm not sure anyone underage would fully appreciate that night's selection, in my opinion). There's also an outside patio where you can stretch your legs between films (or depending on the screening, get more free beer). Does it get any better?
