Each location has its own tradition or historical significance involving the Rose Festival and offers a glimpse of early Portland life when the festival was young. This year we expand the Tour to include Oregon City's historical heritage in honor of Oregon's 150th. Locations on the Tour are open various dates and hours; each location on the Tour may charge an admission rate. Discounts are available with the History & Roses Tour Passport, which can be purchased for $5 at the Rose Festival office or Dennis’ 7 Dees landscaping and garden centers. This majestic Queen Anne home was built in 1906 for Gustav E. Freiwald, a prosperous German immigrant, owner of the Star Brewery and real estate speculator. The house is a Portland designated landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
