Seven Hills Classical Academy - - 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS: Charter School Investigation - Of the 143 charter schools in Minnesota, 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS obtained the teacher lists for 119 of those schools, and compiled a list of 1,792 teachers. We compared that list with the Minnesota Department of Education's list of 91,000 licensed teachers. Initially we found 184 teachers at 65 different schools who were not listed on the state database. We e-mailed the principal or director of each school to confirm our findings. We found many teachers who had a different legal name on their teaching license and other teachers who were no longer with the school. "Please be advised that licensed classroom teachers are monitoring and assume a supervisory role in the Kindergarten through 2nd grade classrooms during the 2-30 minute per week sessions for Kindergarten and 2-45 minute per week sessions for the 1st and 2nd grades during which Spanish is taught. I have confirmed that the 3rd through 5th Grade Spanish instructors bear appropriate licensures. Additionally, the Spanish instructors are subject to periodic evaluations by a licensed teacher as well as a full-time licensed teacher from my staff."

"It is a school's responsibility to verify licensure for personnel regardless if the personnel services are contracted."
