We compared that list with the Minnesota Department of Education's list of 91,000 licensed teachers. Initially we found 184 teachers at 65 different schools who were not listed on the state database. We e-mailed the principal or director of each school to confirm our findings. We found many teachers who had a different legal name on their teaching license and other teachers who were no longer with the school. After our story aired, the school contacted us and said one teacher is licensed under a different name. The other teacher, Jack Mackinnon, is not listed in the Department of Education's database. The school informed us that Mackinnon is waiting for his application to be processed.
