Stratobowl Rim Trail
Trails
Back off the highway about a mile is a giant sinkhole called the Stratobowl. In the 1930’s, the Stratobowl was chosen as the launch site for an experimental flight to explore the stratosphere, sponsored by National Geographic and the US Army Air Corps. The Stratobowl is 700 feet deep and 2 miles across the top, that means there’s no wind at bottom and the perfect setting for inflating giant helium balloons.
