COG- Canadian Organic Growers Youth Farm Apprenticeship Camp

Gardening Event

Canadian Organic Growers (COG), through its Growing Up Organic project, invites youth to join the vibrant local food movement! We’ll explore some unusual methods of growing food in the city, including rooftop gardening, container gardening and the value of community gardens; meet community leaders working on food security issues; and watch some spinechilling videos sure to bring lively debate to the question: who is growing our food, and just what’s in it? We’ll then escape the city and head out to Alpenblick Farm for 2 nights. Farmers Robert & Petra will teach you how to milk goats, make cheese, and care for the cattle & sheep that graze their 320 acre organic farm outside Stittsville. While there, you’ll learn how to cook over an open fire with our nutritionist; identify and prepare wild edible plants; and participate in a land art project with the help of professional artists!
