Digital Place Based Storytelling Project
Good Morning Grade 3's!
Today we will be going on an adventure all around the world! As you know, we have been studying the countries of India, Ukraine, Tunisia and Peru. Our journey today will start in Edmonton, Canada will take us to eight different stops, two in each country we have studied. At each of the locations you will hear a story about a tradition that belongs to the people of that country or will learn about the languages spoken there. All of your hard work on this project has paid off, and we are ready to find out what each of you has discovered! So fasten your seatbelts! Here we go!

Years ago, Calcutta was the capital city of India.
Arranged marriage is a tradition in India. When a person is ready to get married, they will ask their mother and father to find them a husband or wife. They believe their parents are very wise and will make a good decision. Some things the parents will think about when they make this decision include how wealthy the person is, and what their family is like.

Tunisia is well known for it's tradition of carpet weaving. Even thousands of years ago, people from other countries admired the carpets made in Tunisia! Carpet weaving is an important part of some of the religions in Tunisia. Many women make the beautiful carpets to sell.
