Savory Cafe (Metro Version)
Carroll Avenue
Takoma Park,
This is a good enough place to get a coffee as you arrive via Metro in Takoma Park. There are two "Savory's" in town. This is the small one.
Now & Then
6927 Laurel Avenue
Takoma Park,
Now & Then is the best "gift" store in Takoma where you can actually buy something of value even if it's just a Moleskine book, Dirty Girl soap, a Havana candle (tobacco - mmmmm!)
Sunday Farmer's Market
Laurel Avenue
Takoma Park, MD 20912
Open on Sunday from 10-2pm on Laurel Avenue downtown, the Farmer's market has the predictable fare. My wife won't go near the place because of the vibe but the breads, veggies, cheese and pies are really aok.
Video Americain

Takoma Park, MD 20912
Great collection of DVD's. Even though we most always rent new vids, they have a great collection organized by country and director. It's where you would go to rent Joseph Losey's The Servant. The staff is properly tattooed and pierced. And the gumball machine is excellent.
S & A Beads
6929 Laurel Ave
Takoma Park, MD, USA
Yes, it is a store dedicated to beads which may sound horrifically crafty - it is. But still, you can find skull beads and other stuff
Amano

Okay, I don't need women's clothing especially the flow-ey dresses. But they have those ugly but extremely comfortable shoes for both men and women. Also, if you have an ageing female hippy in your life, you will find something here.
House of Musical Traditions
7040 Carroll Ave
Takoma Park, MD, USA
Okay, I haven't played clarinet since Junior High but this is an awesome store. makes me want to learn acoustic guitar (as if). We get Nick's saxaphone fixed here,
Fair Days Play

Games not created in sweat shops - or games that are good for you or maybe both. They actually have a great collection of some of the best board games. the wooden toys - not so much fun. Give me a Todd McFarlane action figure any time.
