Páteo do Colégio
In 1554, after an expedition, priest Anchieta decided to build a place to accommodate Brazilian native indians and to be used as a school to teach religious subjects to them. That was how the city of São Paulo was founded. Today, the place is home to Museu de Anchieta (Anchieta Museum).

Pinacoteca do Estado
The building of Pinacoteca do Estado (State Art Gallery) was designed by Ramos de Azevedo in 1897 to be home to Liceu de Artes e Ofícios (School of Arts and Crafts), an institution for the graduation of the technicians and craftsmen who built 'the cities of the coffee crops'. With uncovered brick walls and wide windows, Pinacoteca was entirely renovated during Mario Covas Government, and, today, its new rooms and indoor patios, all of them with modern lightning systems, are home to important exhibitions, such as Rodin and Miró ones. The museum is a portrait of the Brazilian art from the 19th century to the contemporary age. With its collection of approximately 4,000 pieces, the museum is very important, specially for São Paulo, since it gathers works of art by artists born in the city, such as Almeida Júnior, Pedro Alexandrino and Oscar Pereira da Silva, aside from representative works of art by Cândido Portinari, Anita Mafaldi, Victor Brecheret, Tarsila do Amaral and Di Cavalcanti. In Pavilhão das Artes (Pavilion of Arts), in Parque do Ibirapuera (Ibirapuera Park), which is also part of Pinacoteca, there are also exhibitions of outstanding artists.

Teatro Municipal
São Paulo's cultural life entered a new period with the opening, on September 12, 1911, of Teatro Municipal, whose first attraction was the opera "Hamlet", by Ambrósio Thomas. The firm Francisco Ramos de Azevedo was responsible for building its facilities, which were designed by the Italian architects Cláudio Rossi and Domiziano Rossi.

The project took nine years to be completed, and the team responsible for it got in contact with companies from all over the world, making use of an endless number of decorative elements which today are still part of the theater's architecture.

The theater has already been home to several artists: Caruso, Calllas, Ruffo, Shifa, Bidu Saião, Olenewa, Nijinski, Toscanini, Alonso, Pavlowa, Rubisntein, Gigli, Guiomar Novaes, Duncan, Tagliaferro, Fonteyn, in addition to the organizers of Semana de Arte Moderna (Modern Art Week), in 1922. In 1951, Teatro Municipal went through a radical modernization coordinated by the architect Tito Raucht: he built new floors in the areas previously occupied by the dressing rooms - now it has 11 dressing rooms - and the remaining area was transformed into balconies.

Estação da Luz
Estação da Luz (Luz Railway Station) was opened to the public in 1901. Its facilities take up an area of 7,500 square meters in Jardim da Luz and were built by the São Paulo Railway Company with structures brought from England that copy the Big Ben and the Westminster Abbey. Estação da Luz is one of the major proofs of the importance and development brought by the coffee crop not only to São Paulo but also to the state as a whole - it was necessary to transport the product from Jundiaí to the harbor of Santos, reason why the railway network was enlarged.

The São Paulo Railway Station, as it was officially known at that time, was very important until the Second World War. After that, it started to be replaced by air and highway transportation. Later on, the station started to be used for municipal trains.

Estação da Sé
This subway station is located in the "basement" of Praça da Sé ("Sé Square"). It is the biggest and most important station of São Paulo's subway system. It has three floors and it is there that the North-South and East-West lines meet, reason why it is also the most crowded one since it is where people change trains.
