Pyramid Camera Giza Egypt
The camera is located at the SIAG Pyramids Hotel in Giza, about 1.5 kilometers ENE of the Pyramids Plateau. It is placed at the highest point in the area and is over 200 feet above street level. This affords us the best possible view of the Pyramids looking from east to west into the sunset. If we were any closer, it would be difficult to take in the entire plateau in one image. If we were farther away, images would be degraded as a result of the intervening haze.

Novosibirsk Webcam
Novosibirsk is city that prides itself on size: it is the third-largest city in Russia (the biggest city east of the Urals), has the biggest railway station along the trans-Siberian route, the biggest library in Siberia, and the biggest opera/ballet theater in all of Russia -- even bigger than Moscow's Bolshoy. The red-brick Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevsky, while not the biggest, is considered one of the finest existing examples of pure Russian Orthodox architecture.
In 1943, the Academy of Sciences opened up its Siberian branch in Novosibirsk, which signalled the beginning of the city's transformation into the educational hub of Siberian Russia. While many research institutes are located within Novosibirsk itself, still many more are clustered in Academgorodok, a small city founded in the 1950's by the Academy, 30 km south of Novosibirsk.
At its height, Academgorodok was home to 65,000 scientists and their families, and was a priviliged area to live in, with well-stocked stores and dachas for the academic elite. Gorbachev's perestroika was initially conceived here, by economists who where then relocated to Moscow to author the economic revolution. In recent years, Academgorodok has fallen on hard times thanks to slashes in government funding, and many of the younger researchers who once populated the town have left.
Longonot Webcam
Deep in the heart of the Great Rift Valley in Kenya lies a dormant volcano, Mt. Longonot (9,111 ft above sea level) derived from the Masai word O-Loo-Nong’ot, meaning ‘of the valleys’. Straddling the slopes of Longonot and bordering Hell’s Gate National Park to the West, (which a million years ago formed the dramatic outflow of fresh water from Lake Naivasha) lies the Great Rift Valley.

Beyond the forest limit there are impenetrable Siberian Dwarf Pine thickets.
Mount Pelée, Martinique Webcam
Mount Pelée (French: Montagne Pelée, or “Bald Mountain”) is a dormant volcano on the northern tip of the French overseas department of Martinique in the Lesser Antilles island arc of the Carribean. It is among the deadliest stratovolcanos on Earth.
Mount Pelée is famous for its extremely destructive eruption in 1902 and the destruction that resulted, now dubbed the worst volcanic disaster of the 20th century. The eruption killed about 30,000 people, most deaths in the destroyed Saint-Pierre, at that time the largest city in Martinique, due to its deadly pyroclastic flows. The eruption left only two survivors in the direct path of the volcano, one alive because he was in a poorly ventilated, dungeon-like jail cell and the other, living on the edge of the city, escaped with severe burns.
Webcams at Neumayer-Station
Neumayer Station is a permanent German Antarctic research base. It is located on Atka Bay and was opened in 1992. This station in the Antarctic was established in 1981 on the Ekström Shelf Ice as a research observatory for geophysical, meteorological and air chemistry measurements, as well as a logistics base for summer expeditions.

Malta Webcams
Malta is a small and densely populated European microstate, comprising an archipelago of seven islands, making it an island nation.
The Maltese islands were first settled in 5200 BC by stone age farmers who had arrived from Sicily, possibly the Sicani who are thought to be related to the Iberians. During 3500 BC, these people built the oldest religious structures in the world, in the form of the megalithic Ġgantija temples on Gozo.
The origin of the term “Malta” is uncertain, though the modern day variation is from the Maltese language. The more common etymology is that it comes from the Greek word μέλι (meli) (’honey’). The Greeks called the island Μελίτη (Melite) meaning “honey” or “honey-sweet” possibly due to Malta’s unique production of honey; Malta has had an endemic species of bee which lives on the island, giving it the common nickname the “land of honey”.

Chita, Russia Webcam
The City of Chita is a the administrative center of the Chita Oblast, which is similar to a state. It is located in the middle of Siberia and is about 500 miles east of Lake Baikal.
From the 1930’s through the end of communism, Chita was a closed city. During this period, foreigners were prohibited from traveling to Chita as were many Russians. The basis for the closing of the city was apparently its proximity to China and military installations.
In some circles, Chita is known as the City of Exiles because prominent intellectuals starting with the “Decembrist” were exiled to the city after failed uprisings in 1825. Despite this informal name, the arrival of the Decembrists was a boon for the city. The well-educated exiles made an effort to educate the citizens of Chita and pursue trade. Through these efforts, the City became a major trading portal in Siberia, particularly since the natural resources of the area included timber, gold and uranium.

Acropolis, Athens Greece Camera
The Acropolis of Athens is the best known acropolis in the world. The Acropolis was formally proclaimed as the pre-eminent monument on the European Cultural Heritage list of monuments on 26 March 2007.
While the earliest artifacts date to the Middle Neolithic era, there have been documented habitations in Attica from the Early Neolithic (6th millennium BC). There is little doubt that a Mycenaean megaron stood upon the hill during the late Bronze Age.
The entrance to the Acropolis was a monumental gateway called the Propylaea. To the south of the entrance is the tiny Temple of Athena Nike. A bronze statue of Athena, sculpted by Phidias, originally stood at its centre.
Most of the major temples were rebuilt under the leadership of Pericles during the Golden Age of Athens (460–430 BC). Phidias, a great Athenian sculptor, and Ictinus and Callicrates, two famous architects, were responsible for the reconstruction.

Bastia, Corsica Webcam
Corsica is the fourth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. It is located west of Italy, southeast of the French mainland, and north of the island of Sardinia.
Corsica, like all the other Mediterranean islands, was home to indigenous animals of the Pleistocene Epoch. After the proliferation of man in the Mesolithic, these began to disappear.
The extinct species are Cynotherium sardous, Megaloceros cazioti, Prolagus sardus, Bubo insularis and Athene angelis. Birds were especially hard-hit. Some species that disappeared were Haliaeetos albicilla and Aquila heliaca.
An unusual feature of the island is the herbaceous fragrance of the dense Corsican brush — lavender, honeysuckle, rosemary, cyclamen, myrtle and wild mint. Napoleon left Corsica as a young man, and although he never returned, when exiled on the nearby island of Elba, he claimed he often enjoyed the aroma of Corsica on the west wind.
