Located on Sanibel Island's southern tip. In 1884, the lighthouse was built, and this quaint area became the center of island activity. This is a true family beach, with good shelling, a clear view of the Gulf and plenty of large shade trees. You can enjoy a picnic, strolling on the beach, swimming in the ocean, fishing from the pier, sailing or windsurfing. Parking is available for $2 an hour. Around the corner from the beach and just beyond the restrooms is a smaller beach with a view of the Sanibel Causeway. On our first visit to this beach we saw dolphins playing and they came right up to the beach near to us.
Bowman's Beach

Located mid-island on Sanibel off Sainbel-Captiva Road, Bowman's Beach is pristine and quiet. Although the area's most popular beach, there is still plenty of room to stretch out and discover your own private spot for swimming or shelling. There is plenty of room for windsurfing or sailing. This beach has picnic areas with barbecue grills, trails, showers and restrooms. Parking is available for $2 per hour. One of our favourite beaches, not the best looking, but is never busy .. even on a holiday day .. and is great for shelling. Note: there is no cover/shade available on or near the beach.
Sanibel Causeway Beaches
This is a great place for watching dolphins, sunsets, swimming, fishing, windsurfing and picnicking. Pull your vehicle right to the waters edge. Restrooms available. No parking fees or facilities, but there is a $6 toll to get onto the causeway from Fort Myers.
Captiva Beach
Captiva has been called, "one of the most romantic beaches." Quiet beach offering amazing sunset views. Portable restroom facilities. Limited parking for $2 per hour.
Bunche Beach

This 731-acre facility is a natural tidal wetlands area that is located on San Carlos Bay. This pristine, completely natural area that is indicative of the area before the introduction of exotic plant species, is old Florida. This beach is an example of a living ecosystem that ranges from a sandy beach to mangrove forests to salt flats and contains a wide variety of wildlife. For passive recreational day use and has no amenities. Parking is limited, but is free. Hours: sunrise - sunset.
Fort Myers Beach
There are more than 30 beach access points marked with colorful beach access signs offering entry onto developed, as well as secluded, pristine stretches of shoreline. Many are near restaurants and cafes. Parking is $1 per hour.
