Entrance to the trail is accessible via a set of stairs at the edge of the Richmond High School parking lot.

The Whitewater Gorge Trail may be reached via a paved path down this entrance. Beware the steep hill.

Notice the decaying foundation of stone and brick that is the remains of the Test Woolen Mill that operated here from 1855 until 1900. It consisted of a three-story mill building with a large overshot mill wheel and a separate one-story dye house, both torn down in 1904.
