Harassment and violence against transgender and gender-nonconforming individuals based on which restroom they use continues daily. By regulation,* single-stall public restrooms in Washington, DC must be gender-neutral! Help address the problem by tweeting the name and address of non-complying DC establishments to @DCHumanRights and using the hashtag #safebathroomsDC. For more information about this project, see http://ohr.dc.gov/bathrooms.

Please leave a comment if any of the information on this map is incorrect or needs to be updated!

*All covered entities with single-occupancy restroom facilities shall use gender-neutral signage for those facilities (for example, by replacing signs that indicate “Men” and “Women” with signs that say “Restroom”). See D.C. Mun. Regs. tit. 4. § 802.2 (2006). http://www.dcregs.dc.gov/Gateway/FinalAdoptionHome.aspx?RuleVersionID=2924082
