Home of Lydia and William Mortill 1926-1939. Owned by the Catholic Church 1939 to 1969, when The Grail operated it as a residence for young women. In 1964 the young Anne Summers stayed there and first saw the portrait of her mother. Tay Creggan

Hilton Hotel in East Melbourne is on the site of this now demolished building which was once the fabulously grand town house of land-boomers Sir William and Lady Clarke Cliveden Mansions

: Majestic Mansions

Built in 1912, one of Melbourne’s swankiest apartment buildings, this was where William Mortill lived when he died in 1967 Majestic Mansions

: Athenaeum Gallery

Constance Stokes exhibited here often in the gallery (which has not been in existence since 1971) and this is where she showed her ‘Portrait of Mrs W. Mortill’ that was so admired by Arthur Streeton Athenaeum Gallery

: Victorian Artists’ Society

Both Constance Parkin and Lydia Mortill exhibited their works here, and the miniature of Mrs Mortill painted by Agnes Paterson was shown here in 1927. Connie continued to attend life drawing sessions here into the 1970s Victorian Artists’ Society
